First Christian Church is a non-denominational church devoted to the unity of all followers of Jesus (John 17:21).
To seek unity, we lay aside denominational creeds and dogmas that divide us and work to discover New Testament patterns and teaching for the Church (Acts 2:42).
We don’t believe we are the only Christians but we seek to be known as “Christian” only (Acts 11:26).
Where the Bible speaks we speak and where the Bible is silent we take no official position.
We believe God is the maker and sustainer of all things (Acts 17:24).
We believe Jesus was God in human form and Savior of the world. He left heaven for earth was born of a virgin, died on the cross, was raised from the dead, and ascended back to the heavenly Father (Philippians 2: 5-11).
We believe the entirety of the Bible is God breathed and useful for training in righteousness so that we might become effective in serving and loving each other (II Timothy 3:15,16).
We believe salvation is by grace alone through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (Ephesians 2:8; I Corinthians 15:3,4).
When a person turns to Christ he or she will do as Scripture commands:
1. Express faith in the fact Jesus took our place on the cross to die for our sin (Ephesians 2:9)
2. Commit to change (Luke 13:3)
3. Confess that Christ is Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9)
4. Be baptized by immersion (Acts 2:38)
5. Live faithfully till Christ returns (Revelation 2:10)
We believe that God dwells inside each believer through the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit we are empowered to be Christ’s hands and feet to serve and impact the world for good; by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, binding up the brokenhearted and proclaiming freedom for those in spiritual bondage (Isaiah 61:1-3).
We believe at Christ’s return there will be a new heaven and earth with the wicked cast into hell and the redeemed live forever on the new earth (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Luke 16:23).
We believe the greatest evidence of salvation is living out a life of love (I John 4:7-21).
